US Route 9 & Route 52, Somers Point
This former traffic circle was analyzed by CES for a new traffic signal system for the NJDOT in the city of Somers Point, Atlantic County, NJ. Exiting traffic from the Garden State Parkway created queue lengths on Laurel Drive which back up to the Garden State Parkway toll booth. CES provided a traffic study with a level of service analysis for the new traffic system, which was designed with an IVHS controller for continuous traffic monitoring and control via modem to the NJDOT and NJHA.
CES provided full engineering services including traffic studies, recommendations, surveying, parcel mapping for acquisitions, design of traffic signializations, new ramps, approaches, and utility relocations, as well as specifications, bidding assistance, and construction engineering of this large and complicated intersection.
